Now as you sit there in your comfy chair reading emails
and sipping coffee, some of us are out there pounding
our bodies into perfection and constantly dealing with
ways of getting our minds to respond to different training
methods. We deal with plateaus.

We ALL deal with plateaus.

We ALL have our own "marathons" and "triathlons" in life.

I picked up a client the last week in the gym I work out
at who is a marathon runner. He's been doing it 6 years and
is number 3 in the state. He wants to win THE Ironman
Triathlon someday.

I asked him about his mental training schedule.

He said, "Huh"?

I said, "You know, like Picabo Street, right before her 1998
Olympic Gold Medal Run on Women's Super G. The cameras zoom
in on her and she is back there alone with her headphones on
and she is running the course in her mind before the race.
Do you ever do anything like that"?  [Was Picabo listening to SSE?]

He said, "No, but I've read about it in some books I have and
some interviews of winners in magazines".

I thought, "Hello!?"

I got him set up with a Visualization exercise and an SSE recording
to listen to 3 times per week for 10 minutes.

As of yesterday, he's done it 3 times and is shaving valuable time
from his pace. The way he explained it, "It's like deja-vu, I know
what the intensity of running faster is like and I know what it
feels like before I do it. So when I am running at that faster pace,
it feels more comfortable and seems more like the pace I should be
running at. It was the easiest increase I've had since I've been
training".

The point is, it takes both - mental and physical training to compete,
to be "in the thick", for the real thing.

It makes no difference what that goal is, it takes both.

The only thing you have to know to put together you system is what
your goal is -- what do you want? With that, you can put together a
SSE system of your own and get what you want faster and easier.
It's the closest thing to magic I have ever seen.
